Yuga Labs’ new Shadow tech got a clean bill of health this afternoon, after leading DeFi auditing firm Guardian Audits reviewed the code and declared Shadows safe.

On Tuesday, Guardian Audits, who describe themselves as offering “devastatingly effective smart contract security, for when it has to be right the first time,” released its security assessment of Yuga Labs’ cross-chain Shadow tech.
“Your favorite NFTs, now anywhere,” Guardian Audits tweeted. “Bored Apes, Crypto Punks, and more are going omnichain, powered by @LayerZero_Core & secured by Guardian. Guardian partnered with @YugaLabs to meticulously audit and bulletproof Shadow NFTs on Apechain.”
In Guardian Audits’ 73-page Security Assessment, the firm found 31 vulnerabilities ranging from low to high severity, all of which have since been resolved or acknowledged by Yuga Labs, according to the report.
“Yuga Labs engaged Guardian to review the security of their cross-chain NFT mirroring protocol,” the Guardian Auditors wrote in their report. “From the 30th of December to the 6th of January, a team of 5 auditors reviewed the source code in scope. All findings have been recorded in the following report. Issues Detected Throughout the engagement 3 High/Critical issues were uncovered and promptly remediated by the Yuga Labs team. Several issues impacted the fundamental behavior of the protocol, following their remediation Guardian believes the protocol to uphold the functionality described for the NFT Mirror.”
Following the publication of Guardian’s report, Yuga Labs’ VP of Blockchain, 0xQuit, summed up the findings in four snappy sentences: “Written by Yuga Labs.Audited by Guardian. Powered by LayerZero. Your NFTs deserve the best.”
As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, Yuga Labs’ Shadows tech brings soulbound versions of NFTs from Ethereum Mainnet to Layer 2s like ApeChain, opening up new possibilities for holders including rewards, mints, and more.
Today, Bored Apes, Mutant Apes, Kodas, and Bored Ape Kennel Club Doggos all have Shadows live on ApeChain!
Yuga Labs NFT Holders can access their ApeChain Shadows either through the same wallet as their original Ethereum NFTs (on ApeChain), or by delegating a separate wallet via Delegate.xyz

The Bored Ape Gazette will continue to follow all things Shadows. Stay tuned for updates!
