SETTING THE STAGE: ApeCoin CEO Cameron Kates Teases That Spotlight Season 2 Will Focus "One Of The Most Prolific Builders On ApeChain."

The bright lights of ApeCoin’s Spotlight program will be shining on “one of the most prolific builders on ApeChain” soon, according to ApeCoin CEO Cameron Kates.

After the ApeCoin intern teased that Spotlight was “coming soon,” the chain’s boss took to the timeline to discuss the program and reveal that this second “Season” will focus on a standout builder in the $Ape ecosystem.

 

“Spotlight is not just one thing…By design, it’s meant to evolve, change and challenge our community,” Kates wrote. “Show up, be part of the conversation, activate and invest in this ecosystem to win... “Season” might not the right term anyway since the format will be updated and changed to fit the activation. And the content will change too. Sometimes it will be builders that will be in the spotlight, other times it will be apps, it may even extend to IRL activations and the metaverse. The first “Season” showed the horsepower and heart of our chain, with a long season that built up dozens of communities that continue to thrive today. The second “Season” is shorter and shows the ingenuity and personality of our chain. It’s intended to amplify one of the most prolific builders on ApeChain, who continues to bring the heat.”

 

As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, Spotlight is ApeChain’s reward program that aims to incentivize Apes and $Apes to check out the chain and was first announced at ApeFest 2024, just one day after ApeChain’s launch.

“Spotlight is the ApeChain points and loyalty program, and we are flipping the points meta on its head,” ApeChain’s  Waabam said at the time. “Rather than lots of different games and dApps, on Spotlight we are going to focus on one dApp at a time. Its simple. Its fun, and tasks will be enjoyable to complete. The other thing we are doing with Spotlight is that the rewards will not be ApeCoin…Instead we are leveraging the Banana Bill and the different commercial agreements that were made and those will be the rewards on Spotlight.”

Season 1 of Spotlight focused on Magic Eden and encouraged everyone to ape into ApeChain NFTs. The top performing communities were rewarded with five and six figure floor sweeps, while individual users won incredible prizes like a day with Garga, Bored Apes, and more!

 

At this time, we do not know which builder or dApp will take the Spotlight in “Season 2,” but if it’s anything like the last round, everyone will want to ape in!
