SPOTLIGHT: BAYC Member Reaper's Legless Leo NFT Project Minted Out And Half The Proceeds Are Going To Helping IRL 3-Legged Doggos!

Three cheers (or paws) for Bored Ape Yacht Club member Reaper, whose Legless Leo project— inspired by his real-life three-legged pup—minted out, leading to a $3,000 donation to help dogs like him!

It was Giving Tuesday this week, and the ApeChain community made a real-world difference while supporting a fellow member from around the swamp. BAYC member Reaper’s Legless Leo Project, based on his real-life Maltese-Yorkie mix whose life was forever changed after a tragic accident, minted out. This success led to a four-figure donation to the Tripawds Foundation, a charity dedicated to helping three-legged dogs.

“Creating a full generative art collection from scratch like this was always something I wanted to tackle, but the time never felt right until ApeChain launched in October,” Reaper told the Gazette. “ApeChain NFTs brought the fun back into the space that I think we all missed the last few years. The idea to base the collection around my own 3-legged dog Leo came from my wife, I have to giver her the credit for sparking the creativity. A few days later I was on a call with Baron Von Hustle and he encouraged me to run with the idea.”

 

Since the mint, $Apes and Apes have been filling the timeline with photos of their Legless Leos, and everyone is thrilled to know that their ape-ing in is also making a real-world difference.

“I was able to connect with the Tripawds team briefly this afternoon to update them on the sell out and donation,” Reaper said. “The exact response I received was  ‘You made our Giving Tuesday the best in our 17 year history! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.’ Hearing that made every bit of this worth it! I could not be more proud of what was accomplished in the last 48 hours with this project.”

 

Looking ahead, Reaper shared with the Gazette that the Legless Leo project will continue to make regular donations to the Tripawds Foundation, emphasizing that the charity aspect is extremely important to him.

“It was important to me that the project have a broader focus than the collection itself which is where the Tripawds Foundation came in,” he said. “Tripawds has been providing educational and financial support for pet amputees and their owners since 2004. With this project being based on Leo, it made for a perfect fit to partner with them for this project.”
