SPOTLIGHT: NFT Artist Dario De Siena Is Reimagining Web3 Cartoons As Contemporary Art!

Contemporary art filled the timeline this week as NFT artist and CryptoPunk Dario De Siena reimagined his frens from around the swamp as abstract Apes and art!

For those in the NFT scene, contemporary art is as normal as the air they breathe. Every other post on social media is either a meme or an NFT.

 “We are all contemporary & we are an art movement,"  De Siena said. "Even when everything turns into a meme, it’s also a kind of art form for me."

With that in mind, De Siena played with his fluid style, which inspired his generative AI fine art collection, Flux, earlier this year. He wondered what his Web3 friends’ profile photos would look like as contemporary art-inspired cartoon characters.

“We Are Contemporary Art @TheeHustleHouse,” De Siena tweeted on July 10th along with a reimagined version of TheeHustleHouse AKA Barron Von Hustle’s Bored Ape.

Since this first post, De Siena has reimagned Apes, Punks, Doodles, Nodemonkes, and more as abstract works of art.

“We are contemporary all our PFP who stand out from normal profile pictures are a great color palate & kind of represent the contemporary color palette of the web 3 space, he said. “Also they are all hand drawn on my iPad pro using pro create. As a graphic designer I also love to do stuff the simplest way possible and this series is kind of my abstracts and simplest form of creating an unique and rememberable art piece."

Since the early days of the Bored Ape Yacht Club De Siena has been a staple of the Yugaverse and the broader NFT art scene recreating primates to raise money for rea life apes in 2021 and spearheading an initiative to help CryptoNovo get his forever Punk back after he fell  for a phishing scam in 2023.

From his early works to his contemporary collection today, De Siena is always looking for ways to make collecting fun and spread good vibes around the swamp.

 

“This space should be fun & should drive a good vibe to the ones who are always here working hard to build the future of web3,” he said. “This is the way how I can honor everyone and give them kind of a unique piece inspired by his digital persona.”

 

At the time of this article’s publication, De Siena has no other plans for these contemporary characters other than reimagining more PFPs in this style.
