ApeCoin DAO Special Council member Airvey announced today that he is stepping down from his position at the DAO.

On Friday, the Ape Foundation shared a “Special Council Announcement” on Discourse, informing the community that Airvey has resigned from the Special Council.

 

“Airvey, a member of the Ape Foundation Special Council, has resigned from that position to pursue other endeavors,” the Foundation wrote. “We thank Airvey for his contributions to the ApeCoin DAO, including co-authoring the winning bid on the ApeChain RFP (AIP-378). We wish Airvey well and look forward to his future contributions to the ApeCoin DAO.”

 

Following his departure, Airvey told the Gazette that he ran for the Special Council last year to make ApeChain a reality, and with its mainnet launch right around the corner, he felt his job was complete.

“As a co-author of ApeChain AIP-378, my mission was to propose a robust infrastructure layer to support the ApeCoin ecosystem,” Airvey said. “With the chain now ready to launch on mainnet, I feel my contribution is complete, and it’s now up to the Banana Bill to bring it to fruition! Since joining as Special Council in January, I have had the opportunity to speak about ApeCoin and ApeChain on 16 panels across 4 continents, explaining why I believe that implementing an Arbitrum Orbit chain with $APE as its native gas token would significantly enhance $APE’s utility. After spending months putting the ApeChain AIP together (at no cost to the DAO), I’m thrilled it became the North Star. Although all four proposals during the ApeChain RFP process had their merits, I felt then, and even more so now, that joining forces with Arbitrum offered us the best capabilities and the best chances of success. I am super excited by the support from Yuga and can’t wait to see the projects being built by the talented community!”

 

As Airvey steps down from the ApeCoin DAO, he told the Gazette that he’s thankful for the community’s support over the last 10 months and that he will be transitioning to a new role in the Bitcoin ecosystem.

“I will always remain available for the success of ApeChain and the DAO, but this time as a voter. My focus with my company http://Airvey.io has always been on token advisory. I am grateful to Yuga Labs for having created such a legacy and super fortunate to have had a front seat to the creation of ApeCoin. I am also thrilled to announce that I have joined BLIFE Protocol as Special Council, working alongside Yat Siu and Domo, the creator of BRC-20. The goal of $BLIFE is to become the largest utility ecosystem on the Bitcoin blockchain."

With Airvey’s resignation, the ApeCoin DAO Special Council now consists of four members: BoredApeG, Waabam, Hazel, and Mo_Ezeldin.
