From the blockchain to the Sphere, and now across the timeline. Pudgy Penguins’ recent Las Vegas marketing campaign is getting attention not only on the Strip, but all across X.

Crypto is down. NFTs are down even worse, and plenty of people think they’re dead. And yet, accounts like Greg, Clown World, and even Walter Bloomberg spent Christmas tweeting about flightless birds that live on Ethereum.

“What the hell is going on In Las Vegas,” Clown World asked its 3.1 million followers along in a quote tweet of the ad.

The Sphere isn’t just any ad on any old billboard. In the two years since it opened, the venue has quickly become one of the most iconic landmarks in the United States, with some of the world’s biggest brands,  including Xbox, Spider-Man, and Facebook, wrapping the massive 366-foot-tall structure in their IP and capturing the imagination of millions.

Some laughed at the Pudgy Penguins ad. Some simply liked the cute cartoon. Others seethed over the advertisement’s estimated $650,000 price tag. But regardless of how people reacted, they reacted and the Penguins broke out of the Web3 echo chamber and grabbed everyone’s attention.

“Do something crazy > amplify it The playbook is simple get ATTENTION,” BAYC Member Samit Max Patel tweeted. “Yes this cost $500k but you have 1000s of influential social accounts posting about this. Some mocking, some celebrating, some questioning. End result is the same… ATTENTION for @pudgypenguinsFollow the  @LucaNetz playbook.”

As the Gazette previously reported, Pudgy Penguins made Web3 history this Christmas after placing a weeklong, one minute ad on the Las Vegas Sphere.

On the Sphere, the project’s mascots Pax and Polly burst through their igloo, gaze out over Sin City, and wish frens old and new a Happy New Year.

Tonight, Anyone can catch Pudgy Penguins on the Sphere all week long by tuning into the venue’s official livestream on YouTube below:

The Gazette will continue to follow all things Pudgy Penguins and will let readers know where these birds huddle up next.
