It's spelled A-P-E.

From the Swamp to the squares, things were anything but boring in The New York Times Crossword on Saturday as the Bored Ape Yacht Club made an appearance in one of the world's most iconic daily puzzles.

On Saturday morning, crossword solvers around the world woke up, poured themselves a cup of coffee, and sat down to tackle The New York Times Crossword.
Waiting for them at 19-Down was a clue everyone in the Swamp would know.

“"A three-letter word for a 'Bored' animal in a series of NFTs."
The answer? A-P-E.

Among the first community members to spot the clue were ApeChain TokenGators founder Kthings and Web3 contractor Justin Avery, who both shared screenshots of the question featured in one of today's New York Times Games app puzzles.
“Just a Bored Animal,” Kthings tweeted along with a screenshot from today’s puzzle.
After sharing the clue, Kthings told the Gazette that his wife regularly does The New York Times Crossword and that this wasn't even the first time she'd come across the BAYC in one of its puzzles.
Back in March 2023 Apes was the answer to a 16 across question asking. “Bored ones sold as big ticket NFTs in 2021.”
