The Bored Ape Yacht Club Announced A Collab With Super Plastic. Here's What We Know So Far:
Updated: Feb 8
The Bored Ape Yacht Club isn’t playing around with its latest collaboration announcement.
“Stoked to announce that we have a toy in the works with the wizards over at
@Superplastic,” the club tweeted along with a tweet from the Super Plastic team announcing the toy.
“Got me excited like a little kid,” BAYC member Vegapunk tweeted after the announcement.
Superplastic, is a character-based product and entertainment company that creates limited edition art toys, apparel, games, and animation founded in 2017 by Paul Budnitz, according to Crunchbase.
Superplastic’s collaboration with the Bored Ape Yacht Club is part of the company’s “SUPERPLASTIC NFT Roadmap,” according to its’ website.
“Join the ever-evolving adventures of part-time art thieves and full-time f%ck ups Janky & Guggimon as they attempt to get rich and famous while avoiding a lifetime in Rikers,” Superplastic wrote on its website. “Along the way they’ll drop rare NFTs, limited-edition toys, rad giveaways, and insane metaverse & IRL awesomeness.”
Some of the “insane metaverse& IRL awesomness” in the roadmap includes collaborations with Paris Hilton, Gucci and the BAYC.
While no official date has been announced for when the Superplastic X BAYC collaboration will drop, the company placed it as the fourth item on its roadmap and dated it FEB 2022. “Bored Ape Yacht Club x Superplastic Vinyl toys coming soon,” the roadmap states.
After the announcement, many BAYC members referenced the BAYC roadmap that was released months ago that teased “COLLABS, PARTNERSHIPS, AND DOPE SHIT WE DON’T WANT TO BE FRONTRUN ON.”
“BAYC's success is due to the fact that it never announces anything unless it is 100 percent ready,” BAYC member AOP Ayz tweeted.
The Bored Ape Gazette will continue to follow the Superplastic collab drop and let you know when more information becomes available.
