The Bored Ape Yacht Club Pushed Back Its EVO-1 HV-MTL Reveal To May. Here's What We Know So Far

The Bored Ape Yacht Club just pushed back its upcoming EVO1 HV-MTL Power Source reveal.

On Monday, the BAYC took to Twitter and announced that the HV-MTL Power sources are a little harder to figure out than originally anticipated and that the club is going to need more time.

“One turn right, one turn up, three down, two up… Fuck!!! Locked itself again,” the BAYC tweeted, “We’ll need more time to figure this out.”

Following this post, the BAYC’s parent company, Yuga Labs, updated its MDVMM website to reflect the story’s updated timeline.

“Super proud of the work that has gone into the HV-MTL collection, but need a little more time before we reveal the Evo 1's," BAYC Co-Founder Garga tweeted after the club's post. "It's a monster of a collection and there's been a lot of firsts for us on this one. 8 types, 1050 traits... going to need to make some behind-the-scenes content about the process when we're done. Not yet but soon.”

As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, Garga teased the size and trait variety of the HV-MTL collection last weekend in the BAYC Discord sever.

“HV-MTL’s too wild. Insanely complicated collection,” Garga wrote. “it’s like 1K traits and there’s even like two dedicated math geeks assigned. One is PP, you can bully him. I don’t actually know trait number, don’t quote me on that."

As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, the BAYC first revealed the eight HV-MTL Power Source types on March 29th.

“It’s time to glimpse at the HV-MTL collection,” the BAYC tweeted at the time. “Head over to https://hv-mtl.comfor more on your Power Sources.”

“Undisturbed for centuries, HV-MTL have been summoned abruptly through a rift in space-time (and if they knew how much it had to do with Jimmy’s atomic shit, they’d be impressed)," the BAYC wrote on its HV-MTL Website.“Gary is convinced there’s a cosmic battle on the horizon and needs every HV (pronounced Heavy) to evolve into its final form before it’s too late. But are the HVs new friends — or is there reason to be wary?”

While we do not know if these HV-MTL Mechs are friends or foes, we do know that each type has a unique personality and that holders’ choices will have an impact of them, according to the club.

“Your HV is a unique, dynamic NFT that evolves based on your decisions, so don't fuck this up,” the BAYC wrote. “There are eight different HV-Types and countless different trait combinations. Each has its own skills, personality, and roles, but they're all designed to transform."

Take a look at some of the HV-MTL Mechs that we’ve seen so far:

The Bored Ape Gazette will continue to follow the HV-MTL collection and will let you know when the EVO-1 reveal takes place. Stay tuned for updates!
