The Former Meebits DAO General Manager Announced That He Joined The Yuga Labs Team:
Twitter user and former Meebits DAO General Manager, DannyGreene.Eth, announced that he joined the Yuga Labs team earlier today.
“I'm so excited to join a growing team of creatives, producers, and engineers at @yugalabs as Brand Lead for @MeebitsNFTs, Greene tweeted in an eight-part thread. “For the last 7 months, I’ve lived and breathed Meebits as the General Manager of the @MeebitsDAO and truly love this collection and community.”
In his thread, Greene, who’s profile photo on Twitter is Meebit # 17407, explained that Meebits are historic and that the pixelated NFTs already have a lot of utility.
“Meebits already have utility. Right now, you can play with your Meebit in over 20 virtual worlds, apps, and games. We believe in the open metaverse, decentralization, and interoperability. We’re way beyond thinking about NFTs as jpegs - and the best is yet to come,” Greene tweeted along with a screenshot of Yuga Labs Otherside metaverse.
Greene then highlighted the diversity of the Meebits team and gave Meebit holders a hint about what’s to come.
“Meebits are diverse and inclusive,” Greene wrote. “Almost everyone can find a Meebit that looks like you or how you would like to be seen in the metaverse. The Meebits community is creative, respectful, and global. The world feels a little smaller when you’re part of the Meebits community. So what’s next? We lean into everything that makes this collection unique. We empower the community with creative storytelling tools. We build brand partnerships. We create a massive presence in the metaverse. And we champion our values as one global community.”
Greene’s announcement that he joined the Meebits team came 11 days after Yuga Labs teased utility for the pixelated collection.
As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, In the six-part thread on July 28th, Yuga Labs explained that the company has been working behind the scenes on the Meebits project and that the company has already put together to Meebits team.
“Behind the scenes, we’ve been hard at work — lurking, discussing, experimenting, building, mumbling about voxels in our sleep," Yuga Labs tweeted. “We’ve also put together an incredible team for the Meebs, including some brilliant creative thinkers and some die-hard Meebits community members.”
To fund Yuga Labs plans for the Meebit project, the company announced that it will be putting a 5% royalty on Meebit secondary sales going forward.
“So what are we building? While we can’t get into specifics (we like surprises),” Yuga Labs tweeted. “Our vision for Meebits centers around embracing the currents already core to the community – play, DIY experimentation, tech minimalism, and interoperability – and dialing them way up.”
The Bored Ape Gazette will continue to follow Greene and the Meebits project and let you know when new information is available.
