The ApeCoin DAO is set to elect two Metaverse Working Group Stewards this winter who will not only have to win a DAO wide race next month but also get their own budget passed in 2024!
Seven months after the ApeCoin DAO approved of the creation of a metaverse working Group that’s goal is to ‘Drive culture forward into the metaverse by actively supporting metaverse-related efforts within the ApeCoin DAO,’ the window for ApeCoin DAO Contributors to nominate themselves for this position is open and DAO is preparing to elect its first metaverse representatives.
ApeCoin DAO Special Council member and creator of the Metaverse Working Group, Waabam, took to Twitter spaces earlier this week and gave the community and prospective nominees an idea about what these Stewards will do.
“When we put it together, we envisioned that this working group would be the connection with the content creators in the DAO,” Waabam said on an ApeCoin DAO space earlier this week. “That could look like supporting people who want to build in Otherside, but it could also look like supporting people in Web3. The other piece of this AIP that we would like to see it create opportunities for partnerships.”
Waabam went on to say that while he wrote these Metaverse Working Group positions into existence with an idea of what they would do, he emphasized that these roles will be what the elected $Apes make of them!
“Its really going to be about who wants to run for it, and what’s their vision for the metaverse working group,” he said. “How do they want to see it grow and see it contribute to the DAO. There’s a lot of leeway here to build this.”
An important thing to remember about the Metaverse Working Group election this winter is that nominees will not only have to win over the hearts and minds of $Ape voters next month but also get a budget for the committee passed by DAO-wide vote in 2024.
The window for ApeCoin DAO contributors to throw their hats in the ring and run for the two Metaverse Working Group Steward positions is currently open and $Apes have until tonight at 9 P.M. EST to nominate themselves.

After the window for $Apes to enter the race closes tonight, the DAO will review the prospective nominees applications and approved candidates will move onto the next round.
During this second phase, the community will have the chance to meet the candidates and find out more about them and their backgrounds.
Then from December 7th- December 13th, the community will hold its first round of voting where they will select five candidates from each race to move onto the second round.
From there, the community will vote again from December 14th- December 20th. During this second round of voting, the community will select its preferred candidates for each of the open positions. The winners of this winter’s election season will then officially take office on January 1st, 2024. Check out this winter’s election calendar below:
