“THIS IS HOW I COLLECT”: BAYC Member Guccheetah Is Buying Primates With ‘Museums In Mind’ After Adding Another Ape Featured In A Beeple Work!

Some collectors shop for traits, others choose works that resonate with them, and some collect simply for the love of the game. But longtime Bored Ape Yacht Club member Guccheetah is making moves with museums in mind because, as he says, “This is how I collect.”

Earlier this week, Guccheetah added another Ape to his collection, Bored Ape #1992, a six trait primate with a Sea Captain’s hat, a jovial smile, and a whole lot of cultural provenance.

Bored Ape #1992 isn’t just another primate around the swamp. It was one of five Apes featured in Beeple’s “APES ARE BACK” Everyday from April 22, 2026, which commemorated Michael Figge taking the helm at Yuga Labs.

The work resonated with Guccheetah because it brought together two of his favorite things in NFTs, the best club on the internet and Beeple.

“BAYC and Beeple are two of the artists/forces that have helped define the digital art and NFT movement,” he said. “ To me, having a Bored Ape depicted by Beeple gives that Ape another layer of meaning and cultural weight. It becomes part of a larger story. There are 10,000 Bored Apes, so for an individual Ape to really stand out over time, there needs to be something that distinguishes it.”

 

With this pickup, Guccheetah now owns two of the five Apes featured in Beeple’s “APES ARE BACK,” and when it comes to his future primate purchases, he says he’s ape-ing in with “museums in mind.”

“It’s intentionally a little grandiose, but I’m not collecting randomly,” he said. I’m thinking about which Apes I would want to see represented in a future museum exhibition about digital art and internet culture. In my mind, these Apes belong in that conversation, displayed alongside pieces like Beeple’s “APES ARE BACK.”
