It's time for a Target run!

From the nest and the igloo to the aisles! On Friday, Orange Cap Games' popular trading card game, Vibes, officially made its way into Target stores nationwide, bringing Pudgy Penguins,  Moonbirds, and more to retail shelves one pack at a time!

“A new chapter for Pudgy Penguins and Web3 begins today,” Pudgy Penguins tweeted. “The Pudgy Vibes TCG Season 3 collection is now available in all Targets nationwide. Pudgy Penguins has officially entered the TCG market at scale.

With this launch, the brand's mascot Pax, Moonbirds' Birb, along with community members NFTs from holders like St. McFly, Dim.Eth, and more, are now officially sharing shelf space with some of the biggest names in collectibles, including Shohei Ohtani from the MLB, Charizard from Pokémon, Mickey Mouse from Disney Lorcana, and more!

“This is another giant leap for Pudgy Penguins IP and getting holders' IP in front of millions of people,” Pudgy Penguins’ Community Lead PP McGhee told the Gazette. “Really awesome getting that retail spot right next to Pokemon and bringing other web3 IP into the stores with us. One small step for Pudgy. A giant leap for web3.”

As the Gazette previously reported, this new Vibes set features nearly 200 cards that pay homage to memes, popular culture, and Web3 ethos while featuring frens from across the timeline, including Pengus, Birbs, Rekt Guy, and more!

“Collectibles with web 3 native ip in mass retail. That’s the thesis,” Orange Cap Games’ Founder and Moonbirds CEO Spencer tweeted after the drop. “We will onboard the next million collectors.”

Spencer's message echoes his broader thesis that intellectual property is one of crypto's most compelling real world use cases, and that's exactly what he, Orange Cap Games, Moonbirds, Pudgy Penguins, and others are betting on.

“The reason NFTs will win in the long run is because IP development is an actual use case for crypto,” Spencer tweeted on April 27th. “Many other things in the space will fail because they are over financialized and don’t solve a real problem. Defi fails when the risk outweighs the yeild. NFTs can only fail if the IP becomes irrelevant. North Korea can increase the risk of your defi protocol, but it cannot dilute the relevance of your IP. Lesson there.”

The Gazette will continue to follow Vibes' Target launch and will let you know what Web3's native trading card game does next. Stay tuned for updates!
