2025 is officially the year of the Otherside as Yuga Labs took to the timeline to celebrate the three year anniversary of its metaverse mint with an all new look at the Koda ancestral home world of Nexus!

On Wednesday, the Web3 world celebrated the third anniversary of the biggest NFT mint in crypto history: Otherside. On this day three years ago, Ethereum crashed as the largest gas war ever ensued!

Looking ahead the future is bright for the metaverse as Yuga Labs prepares to launch the first iteration of its persistent, always on Otherside this June.
Once open, Apes, Meebs, Kodas, Moonbirds, Voyagers, and more will be able to visit the Bored Ape Yacht Club’s home world of the Swamp, the Meebits’ city of Meetropolis, and the Kodas’ ancestral home of Nexus whenever they want!

To celebrate the metaverse’s three year anniversary and give everyone a glimpse of what’s ahead, Yuga Labs shared a brand new photo of Nexus, along with a cryptic tale.
“Temple in distress, story told in two parts,” Yuga Labs tweeted. “First, the drink with unintended consequences. The Restoration is our mission, but the world is what we make it. For every payment in creation, we must service a debt of destruction. This, the year of Otherside.”
After the post, Yuga Labs Co-Founder Garga took to the Otherside Discord and revealed that visiting Nexus will be a core part of the first time user experience once the metaverse becomes a reality this summer.

Garga also revealed today that “Nexus has bits from every biome. Each has its own small garden along the outside of the Koda Temple.”

At this time, there’s still a lot we don’t know about the Kodas’ home world, but we do know that it’s built atop a Chaos Otherdeed and that portals on the island connect different realms, according to Garga.

“Think of Nexus as the ancestral home of the Kodas, with an enormous Koda temple at its center,” Garga wrote in January 2025. “It’s the central hub for all Otherside, connecting realms and biomess through a vast network of portals. in its prime, Nexus was illuminated by Soma, which is the creation energy you saw Blue bottling up in the Otherside B.C. trailer but chaos, the other energy we see in the trailer and throughout Otherside, has really fucked the place up these days.... it is a Chaos environment but a major city similar to Meetropolis. it's near the site of the temple we see in the second Otherside trailer."
We also know that the Nexus will feature token gated areas exclusively for Kodas.
“Kodas are the main characters of Otherside, and the Nexus is their ancestral home and the main 'city' or world for Otherside, where portals to all kinds of different experiences will show up,” Garga said in January. “ In the same way that the BAYC Clubhouse is token-gated to Apes, there are places in Nexus gated to Kodas.”
