Before there was Batman, there was Bruce Wayne. Before there was Spider-Man, there was Peter Parker. Every hero has an origin story. Now it's time to learn Pax Pengu and Polly's.
On Tuesday, Pudgy Penguins released its first-ever comic book series, The Adventures of Pax Pengu & Polly, inviting fans to discover the origins of the brand's two mascots!
"Our first-ever comic book series, Adventures of Pax Pengu & Polly, debuted at San Diego Comic-Con and is now live,” Pudgy Penguins tweeted. “This series dives into the origins of our universe and offers a brand-new way to experience the world of Pudgy Penguins. Meet new characters, explore new towns, now told in 110+ pages of hand-illustrated story, written by Vivian Lin with illustrations by Afiq Salam. A prequel to everything in the Pudgy animated universe.”
The Adventures of Pax Pengu & Polly is a three-book trilogy that begins with Journey to The Berg, continues with Betrayal on The Berg, and concludes with A New Dawn on The Berg.
“Pax Pengu has been alone for as long as he can remember,” Lin wrote. “Living in the frozen ruins of an abandoned town in Antarctica, his only connection to the family he lost is an old photograph and a handmade necklace. But when a cryptic message arrives bearing a familiar symbol, his quiet life is turned upside down. Driven by hope, Pengu embarks on a journey across the waters, landing in a dazzling, colorful world celebrating a decade of perfect peace. Teaming up with a clever local named Polly, who’s investigating strange shadows of her own, Pengu realizes his family’s disappearance is tied to a history The Berg refuses to talk about. To uncover the truth, he must track down a mythic figure who holds the answers to the past.”
As the Gazette previously reported, The Adventures of Pax Pengu & Polly was first announced last month and is designed to tie together years of Pudgy Penguins lore from its collectibles, viral GIFs, and Pudgy World as the brand continues expanding the Huddle through storytelling.
“Every great entertainment franchise begins with characters and stories people connect with and love,” Pudgy Penguins Chief Creative Officer Peter Lobanov said in a press release. “Pax Pengu and Polly have become beloved characters across our community. These comic books allow fans to finally discover who they are, how they met and the adventures that shaped ‘The Berg.’ We believe this is only the beginning of a storytelling journey that fans of every generation will continue to follow for decades to come.”
