“WE LOVE YOU DAVE”: Adam Weitsman Supports The Family And Preserves The Onchain Legacy Of Late Quirkies Member ETH Whale Dave

When most people see NFTs, they think of cartoons on a screen. But for many collectors, they represent community, belonging, and in some cases a legacy that can live onchain forever.

On Wednesday, HV-MTL owner and notable NFT collector Adam Weitsman reminded the community that behind every PFP is a real person with a real life, and a family that loves them and that showing up for one another still matters.

Last year, Quirkies community member “ETH Whale Dave” sadly passed away, leaving behind a loving family and a collection of 100 Quirkies.

“Dave was a respected figure in the NFT space known for his passionate collecting, supporting others and his community involvement,” Quirkies owner Papii wrote. “Dave was a great and loved supporter of Quirkies.”

 

Dave’s passing left both an emotional and financial gap for his family, with college costs, expenses, and everyday realities to manage. In response, Weitsman stepped in to help, purchasing Dave’s collection and committing to preserving his legacy onchain.

"I've always believed in supporting the builders and communities that make this space special," said Weitsman. "Quirkies are special. When I got my 1 of 1, I realized how strong and present the community was. A lot of people love this project. I'm a believer and I'm grateful for this opportunity to also help acquire such a meaningful collection. They're in good hands."

Moments like this are what make NFTs so unique. While much of crypto is purely speculative and financial, within this niche inside a niche, people from all walks of life come together to laugh, to cry, and to support one another through thick and thin. The art is great, but the people building and collecting in Web3 are what truly make this space special.
