Bored Ape Yacht Club member Captain Trippy knew when to hold 'em and fold 'em, securing a $45,000 win for the charity of his choice at Yuga Labs' first Otherside Poker Night!

Captain Trippy had the nuts tonight as he ran the poker table on the Otherside, besting Garga, Gordon Goner, Tomato, Figge, Adam Weitsman, OSF, MachiBigBrother, and PP Man on his way to victory!

After nearly three hours of play, some Ape alpha, and plenty of whale banter between frens, the game came down to Captain Trippy and PP Man playing head-to-head—not only for the $45,000 prize, but also for bragging rights and a side bet that required the loser to change their Ape's background color for a month.

Captain Trippy clinched the victory with a pair of eights, taking home the money for his charity and getting PP Man to change his background from orange to aquamarine blue!

“Let’s go, baby,” Captain Trippy shouted right after the river card! “Enjoy that aqua background for the next month.”

“Aqua 2 - Orange 0,” Captain Trippy tweeted in reference to his win tonight and aquas victory in Project Dragon last month. “Happy BDAY and enjoy that Aqua background for the next month  @_PPMan_.  Thankful for Phil Apemuth helping win tonight’s tourney. Can someone please fix PP’s background? Needs to be AQUA.”

After the game, Yuga Labs Co-Founder Gordon Goner commented on how real this metaverse experience felt to a real life poker game.

“Even though it was just an alpha and there wasn't real stakes besides the main charity table, that was the first true metaverse poker event I've seen that that felt superior to a full tilt / poker stars app experience,” Yuga Labs Co-Founder Gordon Goner tweeted after the event wrapped up .”Because it came close to the feeling you get at an IRL poker event. You could get up from the table and talk shit with friends, watch other tables, watch the main event table on a big screen with live commentary on a 5 minute delay, soothe your brainrot by grinding rails in Meetropolis. Honestly has the potential to be a big leap forward for online poker.”

The Bored Ape Gazette is working on additional reports on tonight’s Otherside Poker tournament. Stay tuned for updates!

What a fun Block Blast event! Combining poker with the metaverse to not only create a real-life experience but also have a social purpose, such as donating to charity, is a brilliant idea. Congratulations to Captain Trippy on winning and taking home $45K for his charity! Interactive games like this are not only entertaining but also a big step forward in enriching the user experience in the virtual space.
