Well wishes are going out to longtime Bored Ape Yacht Club member and ApeCo Chief Strategy Officer Waabam after he announced that today was his last day working full time at $Ape as he prepares to pursue new opportunities in crypto while still working behind the scenes around the swamp.

“Personal update: today is my last day working full-time at ApeCo," he tweeted. "And while I'm not going to be involved at ApeCo day-to-day anymore, I’ll still be active behind the scenes with @HeadofApe and @wonk1m, and I will continue beating your asses in every Otherside game that comes out. I’m going to be pursuing some other exciting opportunities in crypto which I’ll share more details on at a later time. Getting to be on the team was a dream come true. I'm an ape for life. I'm not going anywhere. Stay bored Waabam.”
Since the early days of the ApeCoin DAO, Waabam has been involved in several major moments across the $Aoe ecosystem. In the summer of 2023, he was elected to the ApeCoin DAO’s Special Council.
During his term, Waabam was involved in several initiatives and governance efforts, including the Banana Bill, a 100 million $Ape funding proposal introduced in the summer of 2024 that aimed to grow the recently launched ApeChain by funding user incentive programs and partnering with builders across Web3.
"Getting elected to Special Council along with Captain Trippy was really special and made a lot of what came next possible," Waabam said. "I have a lot of respect for Cap and was really grateful to work closely with him for a couple years after that."
Later, Waabam worked alongside Yuga Labs CEO Garga, ApeCo CEO Cameron Kates, and others on the transition from the ApeCoin DAO structure to ApeCo, a business entity focused on supporting the core pillars of the Yugaverse, ApeChain, BAYC, and Otherside.
