After months of speculation, rumors, and hints Yuga Labs announced that its acquired 10KTF and WENEW Labs.
“Today, we are excited to welcome the @wenewlabs and @10ktfshop team to the Yugaverse,” Yuga Labs tweeted this morning. “Together we will push the boundaries of where the metaverse meets reality through creative storytelling and immersive experiences.”
With this acquisition, Yuga Labs announced that WENEW’s former CEO, Michael Figge, will be joining the Yuga Labs team as its' Chief Content Officer. Also, notable NFT artist Beeple will also be joining the Yuga Labs team as an Advisor.
“Figge, Beeple, and the WENEW team have found a way to create a captivating serialized story for web3, while also managing to tap into the passion people have for their digital avatars and customization,” BAYC Co-Founder Gargamel said in a press release. “Storytelling and world-building are foundational at Yuga and I’m thrilled that we get to work with the creative mind hive at WENEW in a much more robust way. The possibilities of what we can do together are endless.”
Since early 2022, Bored Ape Yacht Club members and the NFT community at large have speculated that 10KTF and Wagmi-San are connected to the Yuga Labs and the Otherside.
As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, during the first trip to the Otherside metaverse on July 16th, Voyagers participated in a scavenger hunt for Wagmi-Sans’ glasses.
“Someone broke their glasses at NFT NYC, can you find them a new pair,” Curtis asked the over 4500 participants.
After Voyagers searched far and wide, BAYC member Null.Eth found Wagmi-san’s spectacles.
The Otherside Wagmi-San scavenger hunt wasn’t the only connection that Yuga Labs has had with 10KTF project prior to today’s announcement.
As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, in August, it was revealed that 10KTF’s token was powered by $Ape. At the time, a total of 714,405 $Ape was made available for 10KTF holders to claim.
