A Gold Fur Ape Has A $2.8 Million Bid At Sotheby's First Metaverse Auction.

A gold fur Bored ape is for sale at Sotheby’s new metaverse auction house where the primate already has a $2,800,000 USD bid.


Sotheby’s metaverse auction dubbed “Natively Digital 1.2: The Collectors” is a collection of 53 NFT lots from 19 well-known NFT collectors.


“Natively Digital 1.2: The Collectors shines a spotlight on the people who have championed digital artists and contributed to the digital art space,” Sotheby’s wrote on their Metaverse’s home page. “These collectors are people with deep histories and relationships in the digital art and media space, many of whom have been collecting long before NFTs became a common term and have helped build the ecosystem from the ground up.”


One of the collectors featured at Sotheby’s first Metaverse auction is Bored Ape Yacht Club member, Jimmy.Eth. Jimmy is the third largest BAYC holder with 74 bored apes worth at least 5,711.569 Eth or nearly $23,000,000 USD, according to Evaluate. Market.


Sotheby’s is auctioning one of Jimmy’s rarest bored apes in the auction house’s first collection and the primate is already getting a lot of attention. Since the auction began on October 19th, Jimmy’s ape has already received a bid for $2,800,000 USD.





Jimmy’s ape, Bored Ape #8817 is a seven trait gold fur ape with a spinner hat, wool turtleneck and a bored party horn mouth. Based on these traits, Bored Ape #8817 is the 17th rarest ape, according to Rarity Tools. Jimmy is the original minter of Bored Ape #8817 and has held the primate since the BAYC opened back in May, according to Opensea.
