Crypto prices are down and AI doomerism is everywhere, But fear not! An Ether Rock just sold for $127,000 USD!
On Tuesday, an anonymous crypto whale transferred 70 Ethereum from Kraken exchange to a brand new wallet and immediately purchased Ether Rock #93 for 69.99 ETH.
“Whenever I’m ready to just ragequit crypto and never look back, you guys restore my faith in humanity,” notable NFT Trader and longtime Bored Ape Yacht Club member DFarmer tweeted.
While the buyer remains unknown, the seller, Randomzhki, purchased the rock earlier this month for 50 ETH, resulting in a profitable flip of nearly 20 ETH, or roughly $30,000.
Ether Rocks is a collection of just 100 NFTs and one of the earliest projects on Ethereum, launching shortly after CryptoPunks in 2017. Originally intended as “pet rocks on the blockchain,” the project has evolved into one of the longest running memes and flexes that has even been featured on CNBC.
“These virtual rocks serve NO PURPOSE beyond being able to be brought and sold, and giving you a strong sense of pride in being an owner of 1 of the only 100 collectible rocks :),” Ether Rocks wrote.
With today’s sale, the new floor pirce for a Ether Rock is 145 Eth or $269,700 USD, accoridng to OpenSea.
