From do-do-dodo to Doodles.

“Sky of blue and sea of green…” Earlier this week, the timeline felt like a trip aboard Yellow Submarine as Doodles community member and artist Jive reimagined the band’s classic film in a doodle-fied way.

The Beatles of 1968 were, in a lot of ways, like Doodles today, a few years removed from the peak of Beatlemania and ready to experiment.

The band helped bring Yellow Submarine to life, a psychedelic fairytale about saving creativity itself, and now Doodles is doing something similar, launching an AI image generator that reimagines any photo in its signature style, complete with vibrant colors and off center eyes.

Since its launch last week, creatives everywhere have been busy doodling themselves, iconic works, and more, but few have doodled more than Jive.

In just a few days, he’s reimagined Salvador Dali’s Persistence of Memory, Alex Grey’s Flagpole, and the legend himself Bob Ross.

“Pawky (Doodles Community Manager)  hit me up in my DMs and said the team had been seeing my posts and really appreciated my efforts,” Jive said. “The encouragement got me feeling really good and so my motivation kicked even further up and I told him I'd keep on it!”

That night after work, Jive had planned to make some Doodles based on Miami Vice, but decided to grab a few screenshots from Yellow Submarine first.

“I started watching it and I found myself getting really excited with the animation and wanting to see how Doodles AI would process it,” he said.”I grabbed a few shots and then I was on a roll as that movie tends to suck me right in haha. I ended up starting and stopping it 60+ times to snap a scene because I was curious as to what it would look like!”

The results were exactly what you’d expect, vibrant colors, iconic imagery, doodle-fied visuals, and of course, love, because love is all you need!

“I find the wisdom delivered in the movie to deeply resonate and to speak deep truths about our mysterious and beautifully weird existence and with a reminder to use love as a guiding light no matter how strange or chaotic things may get,” Jive said. “Love has always seen me through even the most difficult and confusing circumstances, just as I have seen it change the lives of many other finite perspectives of this great infinite universe.”

Looking ahead, Jive told the Gazette he plans to reimagine more films in the Doodles style and hopes others will be inspired to do the same. He also thanked the Doodles team for making it all possible.

“This product is a major win imo and its addictive and a lot of fun,” he said. “I can only imagine just how much work and time had to go into training it to get the Doodles stamp of approval and it really shows! I have shared it with my friends and co-workers alike and everyone seems to really love seeing what a "Doodles" version of themselves will look like.”

The Gazette will continue to follow Jive and will let you know which film he Doodles next. Stay tuned for updates!
