Amplify Is Running For Another Term As Governance Working Group Steward! Find Out Why:

Since taking office as the ApeCoin DAO’s first-ever Governance Working Group Steward, Amplify has been working to lay the foundation for the DAO’s working group structure and further decentralize $Ape, returning more power to the community. Now, Amplify is running for a second term, where he hopes to deploy some of the DAO’s treasury on-chain, work to generate revenue for the DAO via DeFi, and get major stakeholders like a16z and Yuga Labs more involved in the $Ape ecosystem!

After a month of Twitter Spaces, interviews, and politicking, it’s time for the $Ape community to cast their votes for the $Aps they want to represent them as a Governance Working Group Steward.

For those who are unfamiliar with the role that the Governance Working Group plays at the DAO, the group 'is responsible for providing neutral and objective governance oversight and support for the operations of the ApeCoin DAO,' according to AIP-239, which was written by Amplify.

With that in mind, the Bored Ape Gazette reached out to Amplify and asked him why the DAO should reelect him! Check out the full interview below:

1. In a sentence or two can you sum up your crypto journey and how you got into Web3?

“I first heard about Bitcoin in 2017, and proceeded to consistently lose money for 3 years while I learned how to trade. It snowballed pretty quick from there as Ethereum was being built out. I remember having to use MyEtherWallet to do anything "on chain."

2. In a sentence or two, why should the community elect you to be its next Governance Working Group Steward?

“I believe my moral compass, passion, and experience across multiple DAOs uniquely position myself to excel at this role.”

3. What initiatives or projects would you want to spend your time on as a Governance Working Group Steward?

“I have some in mind! First, I'd like to deploy some instance of an on chain treasury in order to democratize access to capital, and decrease the time from Idea, to Funding. Second, we need to deploy some of our treasury assets into DeFi to earn a yield on the treasury. Third, we need to activate Yuga and investor tokens like a16z and others. These large whales aren't comfortable voting themselves, as it would sway every vote. However, they should be delegating to trusted and active members of the community. This has been done before through clever implementation of partial and liquid delegation, as well as more targeted delegation campaigns.”

4. Why do you want this job?

“I want to see through the Working Group structure until they are fully set up and empowered with their budgets and 3 Stewards. I believe that the Working Groups provide an accountable structure wherein the DAO can choose their elected representatives for each task required in the DAO.”

5. what impact or mark do you hope to leave on the DAO?

“I hope the DAO becomes less passive and reactive. It's my hope that the DAO starts creating meaningful initiatives and empowers our community to take collective action towards our goals.”

6. Do you have anything else you’d like to add or say?

“Just another huge thank you to you and all of the ApeCoin token holders. I am incredibly excited to see what the DAO can accomplish in the next year. =)”

The window to vote in the ApeCoin DAO’s Governance  Working Group Steward election is currently open, and $Apes have until next Wednesday, December 20th, at 9 P.M. EST, to cast their coins.

The Bored Ape Gazette is working to interview every candidate. Stay tuned for updates!
