Bored Ape Yacht Club members are seeing ApeFest red, but they aren't exactly sure what it means, but fear not! Yuga Labs CEO Michael Figge says he and the team will soon release such comprehensive information about the event that "we won't even have to talk about it, and that will be that."

Things were anything but boring on Thursday after the Bored Ape Yacht Club shared a rustic red image with the number "1017" scribbled across the bottom.

The post left the community with more questions than answers, with most believing that "1017" refers to a date, October 17, and signifies when ApeFest 2026 will take place.

All “signs” lead to …121 days and counting,” Mimu Founder and Other Games Co-Host Hype tweeted.

As the timeline ran with the idea that today's post was teasing ApeFest and revealing its date, attention quickly shifted to where the event might be held.

Some theorized that the red graphic pointed to China, Japan, Canada, Amsterdam's Red Light District, Atlanta, or Miami, while others were already adjusting their plans around the rumored date.

“Just told my sister we have to change her wedding date as i’ll be unavailable on 17th October,” BAYC Member Nash tweeted. “She asked why and i sent her this.”

Tonight, it is important to note that Yuga Labs has not officially said that ApeFest will take place on October 17. That said, it would be surprising if the post were about anything else, especially considering that Figge was discussing the annual gathering during this week’s Meet At The Clubhouse Space this morning.

“There have been a lot of people in my replies and my DMs telling me about this event around the world where Apes are going to meet in one location,” he said. “This is what people like to do.But im new to this. Ive only been CEO for a couple months, people need to explain to me how to communicate in Web3, im just learning , im new at this. The BAYC team, I told them there’s this meeting of Apes around the world in one location and people need to know when that is and where that is.And they all looked at my and went, oh that’s right. People do need to know that.

Figge went on to say that he and the team will soon answer everyone's questions surrounding ApeFest and that the announcement will be extremely thorough.

“Its going to be so comprehensive that we won’t event need to talk about it,” he said. And that will be that.”

The Bored Ape Gazette will continue to follow all things ApeFest and will let you know when Yuga Labs officially announces when and where this year's event will take place. Stay tuned for updates!
