APE FEST NIGHT 1 RECAP: Here's What Happened On The First Night Of Ape Fest 2022

The Bored Ape Yacht Club held its first night of Ape Fest at Pier 17 yesterday evening and apes had a great time getting to meet each other in real life.

Monday was the first of four nights of Ape Fest and thousands of apes, and their plus ones packed the Pier 17 Rooftop. BAYC members drank, smoked, and talked crypto with one another all while enjoying a beautiful view of New York City.

Comedian Amy Schumer kicked off the event with a quick stand-up set where she teased BAYC members about being on the spectrum, the lack of women in the crowd, among other topics.

Check out a portion of Schumers set here:

Later in the evening LCD Soundsystem, an American rock band from Brooklyn, New York, formed in 2002 by James Murphy, took the stage and performed for the BAYC community.

As the night progressed, BAYC member PTM and the team over at Applied Primate Engineering took the stage with an animated video that ended with an INSANE gold fur Mega Mutant Ape being revealed live at Ape Fest!

“This has been a long time coming and we’re so excited to share it with the community,” PTM exclusively told the Bored Ape Gazette after his gold fur Mega Mutant Ape was revealed. “We’re honored to continue to build our own space inside the universe built by Yuga Labs, we’re hoping AppliedPrimate and our 4 mega mutants will be a central part of this universe for many going forward. More to come from Applied Primate soon!”

To end the night, Questlove took the stage and Dj’d as apes partied the night away.

“Got edged hard by Questlove (fr the crowd was gonna explode),” BAYC member TropoFarmer tweeted after the event. “But Day 1 of ApeFest was still so fucking fun. venue was insane and every ape was vibing. next year I'd love it if all apes could attend every day, 1 night just isn't enough to hang. still can't believe this is real.”

The Bored Ape Gazette is in NYC all week and will continue to bring you coverage of Ape Fest and the surrounding events! Stay tuned.
