Yuga Labs CEO Garga announced that the Golden Key from Dookey Dash opens many doors and will be used in both Faraway Gaming Studios' future HV-MTL activations, as well as in the Bored Ape Yacht Club's future stories around the swamp!
"A week after Yuga Labs sold its Legends Of The Mara and HV-MTL gaming assets to Faraway Gaming Studios, the company announced that the Golden Key grand prize from last year’s Dookey Dash competition, which was won by professional gamer Mongraal and sold to BAYC member Adam Weitsman for 1,000 ETH or $1.6 million USD, would play a role in both companies' future plans.
“The Dookey Dash key was always meant to have a dual role - first as part of BAYC lore and our story going forward, but also as a HV that participates in gaming activations,” Yuga Labs CEO Garga tweeted this afternoon. “With HV-MTL (and the key transformed into the legendary HV) under Faraway’s stewardship, we’re going to be minting a new 1 of 1 version of the key which will stay part of the BAYC ecosystem and airdrop it to the holder of the legendary HV. Cause the key’s story isn’t finished yet.”
As the Bored Ape Gazette prevously reported, the Golden Key made its first appearance in the BAYC’s prologue video for the Trial of Jimmy the Monkey in December 2022.
In that video, a Knight Ape came up through the outhouse toilet and presented Currtis with a mysterious box and the coveted golden key.
After that strange encounter, Curtis, Jimmy the Monkey and his fellow Bored Ape frens partied late into the night, using the key to open beer bottles and the box as a platform to drink beer from.
Things took a turn for the worse thought after Jimmy the Monkey committed a party foul by accidentally swallowing the golden key during a game of beer pong.
Shocked, the Apes chased the monkey in an effort to get the valuable key back. As the primates chased Jimmy, the Monkey ran to the bathroom and locked himself inside.
Jimmy tried hard to poop out the key to no avail and he eventually passed out.
This led Curtis, and the other Apes to put on their hazmat suits, dive into the sewers below the BAYC, and retrieve the golden key from Jimmy’s butthole in Dookey Dash.
This key eventually retrieved by professional gamer Mongraal and sold to BAYC Member Adam Weistman for $1.6 Million USD.
This key would eventually transform in HV-MTL #1.
