Sometimes art that brightens a viewer’s day was made in another’s darkest place.

For the last two and a half weeks, artist BoredOhms has been filling the timeline with time lapsed doodles of his friends to fight back against his own self doubt and insecurities.

Each piece is made quickly, prioritizing the good over the great and the primate over the perfect.
“What inspired me? Honestly, my depression,” BoredOhms told the Gazette. “I’ve been feeling down for a long while now, and art is what makes me happy. Seeing work from fellow artists on the timeline inspires me to keep going; Airlicky is a great example. However, I used to be way too hard on myself, criticizing everything I made. With these quick draws, I decided to just let loose and let my hand do whatever it wants with the base sketch.”
The first sketch BoredOhms made as part of his latest collection of works was of Yuga Labs’ BaronVonHustle.
“Quick 15 min drawing without worrying about being perfect.”
Since then, BoredOhms has created 22 sketches around the swamp, reimagining frens like Roc Sol, Gerry, and even this very paper as cartoonier versions of themselves. The result is a collection of playful drawings that have brought a raw and quirky vibe to the timeline.
While BoredOhms isn't sure he'll ever draw every Ape and Mutant, he did the math. At a pace of one Ape per day, he estimates the project would take roughly 27.4 years to complete.
So for now, he's simply watching X and sketching whichever NFTs inspire him to put digital pen to paper.
“if I see an Ape on the timeline, I’ll draw it,” he said. “Otherwise, I usually pick from the people who interact with my posts! Of course, commissions are welcome.”
Be sure to give BoredOhms a follow on X @BoredOhms, and if you enjoy his art, let him know because a quick like can mean a lot.

The Gazette will continue to follow BoredOhms and will let you know what he does next. Stay tuned for updates!
