BORED BUILDERS: Here's What The First Three Otherside ODK Testers Said About The Tools:

After Yuga Labs announced yesterday that it would be inviting more bored builders to try out the Alpha version of its Otherside Development Kit (ODK), the first three community members who experimented with the ODK took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the tools being used to make the metaverse a reality!

On Wednesday, Yuga Labs’ Otherside took a step forward by announcing it would soon open its Alpha ODK to more builders. The company also showcased three community-inspired creations built by BAYC members Rida, Bailey, and TropicalVirtual, giving Voyagers a glimpse of what they can eventually create.

 

Following Yuga Labs’ tweet, Rida, Bailey, and Tropical shared their thoughts about building with the ODK andOtherside moving forward.

“Been building on our own for over 2 years , such an amazing feeling to finally be building alongside other builders @bailey_tattoo and @tropicalvirtual and others in the space as ODK Alpha Testers,” Rida tweeted. “The support of the @yugalabs and @Improbableio teams in bringing our ideas to life has been incredible. Can’t wait to build alongside more incredible builders from the space.”

 

“When the first Otherside trailer debuted, I couldn’t stop pondering possibilities. I imagined a digital canvas where unique worlds, experiences, and services could exist,” Bailey tweeted. “I’m honored to have worked alongside the passionate Yuga & Improbable teams as an ODK alpha tester where my initial curiosities of this digital universe were confirmed.”

“The most critical part of web3 for me is the online environments I engage with,” TropicalVirtual tweeted. “Whether in a 2D website, app, or 3D game, an open and enjoyable online space significantly boosts community participation and engagement, ultimately becoming a lifeline for the community by binding them through mutual interaction. Platforms like Discord enhance intimacy and quick interaction, but web3 demands more than 2D text chats. Yuga Labs and Improbable are developing the ODK, which will create countless new 3D social hangouts, transforming flat text screens into virtual campfires. I'm excited to contribute to building large-scale multiplayer games like this and honored to be an ODK alpha tester to help realize this vision.”

 

As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, Yuga Labs plans to expand access to its Alpha ODK later this month and will be inviting community members with experience with Unreal Engine to ape in and apply to build.

 

“Excited for how the ODK is coming together, and grateful for the thoughtfulness and creativity of our couple pre-alpha testers,” Yuga Labs CEO Garga wrote. “We'll be slowly ramping up more access throughout the alpha period, aiming to go from 3 to ~20 users/teams in August while we continue to pressure test and add features with our partners at Improbable. And then more from there. Slow, yes, but finally: steadily. Note: The best testers for these early stages are going to be folks already familiar with Unreal Engine. More info to come.”
