Chain CEO and NFT Enthusiast Deepak Thapliyal Donated $60K To help This User's Dad With ALS

With all the scams and rug-pulls out there these days, it’s easy to forget how many good people exist in Web3. Deepak Thapliyal, the CEO of Chain and an avid NFT collector, is one of these good people.

In one of the most selfless acts of kindness this space has seen this year, Thapliyal helped a young man named SumoCrypto bring his father home from the hospital.

Over the past month, SumoCrypto has been sharing updates on his dad’s battle with Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis or ALS.

Three weeks since CryptoSumo’s tweet, the Web3 and crypto communities sprang into action to help CryptoSumo and his dad. Twitter user InverseBrah played a major role in helping SumoCrypto receive donations. Eventually, the community raised $14,000 USD and that got the attention of Thapliyal.

“Just sent you $60k,” Thapliayal tweeted on July 30th. “I hope your dad gets well soon. Thx @inversebrah for bringing awareness.”

After Thapliyal’s donation, CryptoSumo took to Twitter and thanked the Chain CEO for his generosity.

“I can’t stop crying right now,” CryptoSumo tweeted on July 30th. “Thank you@dt_chain for helping my family meet the goal. I’ll never be able to express the gratitude I have for what you’ve done and for letting my dad come home comfortably. Words can’t describe the thankfulness I feel. Thank you.”

This act of kindness demonstrated the power of crypto in multiple ways. First, it showed how much easier it is to send across the world in a matter of minutes and second it showed what the community can accomplish when it comes together.
