Check Out The Gazettes Interview With The Author Of AIP 103, Andrew Friday

An Ape Improvement Proposal that aims to create an ape themed third person shooter video game is on the ballot this week at the ApeCoin DAO.

AIP-103 titled “Ape Worlds: Shooter Edition” is an ecosystem fund allocation proposal submitted by Knock Knock Games CEO Andrew Friday.

“Shooter games are massively popular,” Friday wrote in his proposal. “Everyone knows how to play shooters, and there is a ton of depth to master the gameplay. Also, shooter games are very repayable and get a lot of engagement. Pairing the Ape brand with a fun, accessible game that runs on the web w/ Ethereum/ Metamask we can expand the number of wallets holding and spending $APE.”

Knock Knock Games and Friday are asking for 215,938 $APE to create their third person shooter game.

This is Friday and Knock Knock Games second AIP proposal after their first one was voted down by the DAO. Following that vote, Friday and his team turned to the community for feedback and put together this new proposal.

The Bored Ape Gazette spoke with Friday and asked him about his AIP and found out what makes a game fun! Check out the Gazette’s full interview below:

1. What did you learn from the community after your first AIP was rejected?

“The community wanted a more focused proposal with clear deliverables and value prop. We went back and streamlined the proposal around creating PvP shooter game that can be shipped in a few months and reach hundreds of thousands of people.”

2. What separates a fun game from an not fun game?

“This is a deep question! I would say fun comes from introducing the player to a challenge they need to learn and master. If the challenge is too easy, the game gets boring. If the challenge is too difficult, it gets frustrating. What makes PvP games like shooter games so fun, is that they are easy to pick up, but difficult to master because you are up against other people who will constantly throw new challenges at you.”

3. How do you plan to get people outside the nft/ ape coin dao to play this game?

“Because our game engine is built for HTML5, Ape Worlds is an instant game and can run directly from our website or a social post via Twitter. This means we can run events and get new players into the game and playing in under a minute. For example, in a recent event with r/SuperStonks, we saw 46k impressions from our post, had 12k players play the game, and 4k players connected their wallets.”

4. What should the community know about you and knock knock games?

“The members of our co-founding team have all been in gaming for over a decade each. We’ve worked at Zynga, Jam City, Gameloft, Glu Mobile, EA, Bandai, etc, and held Director and VP level positions. Unlike most games in the web3 space, we have a working web3 game out using our engine and have seen 15k wallets connected and 73k games played.”

5. Do you have anything else you’d like to add or say?

“We believe that for $APE to be successful there needs to be a strong ecosystem of games and services using $APE. Yet, we are 6 months into the DAOs existence and we haven’t approved a single game. We hope to be the first of many games funded by the ApeCoin DAO, and will do our best to drive more people to purchase and hold $APE by running NFT drops using $APE and requiring players to hold $APE to mint in-game NFT rewards for gameplay achievements. Lastly, we are looking to license Apes from the community for a future drop, so reach out to @PlayVyWorlds to learn more or ask any questions about the proposal.”
