COINS FOR CULTURE: Peruggia Buys 12 CryptoPunks For 386 ETH Or $607K!

What the Punk?

As Ethereum and Bitcoin tumbled to lows of roughly $1,500 and $60,000, crypto whale Peruggia traded coins for culture, adding 12 more CryptoPunks to their growing collection.

As the old saying goes, buy when there's blood in the streets, even if it's your own. On Friday, wallet 0x2be86362f8a9c4250eb939c825a55c884895c2af purchased 12 CryptoPunks for 386 ETH, or about $607,000.

While at first glance this looked like an anonymous whale making a splash, it was actually longtime CryptoPunk collector Peruggia, according to Etherscan data.

 

If this name sounds familiar, it should. As the Gazette previously reported, Peruggia sold their Alien type CryptoPunk for 4,850 ETH, or $16,421,000, back in March 2024.

“End of an era,” they tweeted at the time. “I've long since felt like an imposter. Holding punks, and potentially NFTs a whole hostage by not elevating 7804 in the way he deserves. After over a year of looking around I feel I've found the right buyer with the right vision to appropriately elevate this asset.”

 

 

With this move, Peruggia now holds 22 CryptoPunks between their three known wallets.
