Longtime Bored Ape Yacht Club member OneAndOnlyPapii is looking clean and feeling comfy after he did his own research and aped into a two-attribute hoodie CryptoPunk!
Things were anything but boring over the weekend as crypto and NFTs prices pumped and OneAndOnlyPapii purchased CryptoPunk #7144 for 207.69 Eth or $426,000 USD.
“For me, I wanted a hoodie, it was the end goal really for a long time, it was just about timing it properly,” Papii told the paper. “I wanted one that was clean and relatable, special and simple. This one has only two traits. A two trait punk is special in itself, one of those traits being a hoodie is just insane. The vape was something I was hesitant at first about but the more I looked at it, the more I realized it added character and something special to the punk.”
While OneAndOnlyPapii always knew that he wanted to purchase a hoodie Punk one day, he decided that this weekend was the right time to ape in after he did a lot of research on the history of Punks and discovered just how rare hoodie punks are.
“The first step was understanding the historical significance of Punks,” he said. “Second step was understanding then the historical significance of hoodie punks specifically, and third was understanding how hard to find for sale they really are. Especially the clean ones."
After looking into CryptoPunks’ place in crypto culture, OneAndOnlyPapii determined that Punks are here to stay and that there is an extremely limited supply of hoodie-wearing Punks.
“I think with punks it’s about longevity,” he said. “If you look at it, there are punks that have been in the same wallet for 6 going on 7 years. Many of the wallets have no activity in 1-6 years. Partner that with the fact that hoodies themselves are so relatable to many people in day to day life, you realize quickly they are truly special pieces of art, PFP/relatability and history all wrapped in one.”
Since his purchase, OneAndOnlyPapii has updated his profile photo to CryptoPunk #7144 and added a Star Wars themed banner to his Twitter account featuring his forever Ape and his hoodie Punk.
