Six weeks after Pixel Vault announced that the project had failed to create a “profitable and sustainable crypto entertainment company” and was shutting down, heroes from the products’ past donned their capes and stepped in when the collectors of their art needed them most; because that’s what heroes do!

On Wednesday, Pixel Vault, the parent company behind NFT collections like Punks Comic, Metahero, and the ApeChain game Battle Plan, announced that the defunct project had a new dynamic duo at the helm, its original artists Chris Wahl and Josh Blaylock under a new company called Post Punk Productions.

“We explored all options to find the best home for the PUNKS Comic and the Metahero Universe assets. We have reached a deal with a new company owned by Chris Wahl and Josh Blaylock, the creative geniuses behind the franchises. “Excited to announce that @joshblaylock and I have been successful with our proposal to take over the @metahero_pv and @punkscomic IP and assets,” Wahl tweeted after the announcement. “Thank you to the investors at Pixel Vault for their trust and support and thank you to the PV community! Now the real work begins!”
Wahl and Blaylock are the latest Web3 enthusiasts in a long line of community members and builders taking over projects they love. Luca Netz did it with Pudgy Penguins, Spencer is doing it with Moonbirds, and Papii is doing it with Quirkies! Only time will tell how they perform, but the community and market seem to be on their side.
The floor price of Metahero has risen 62% on the day to 0.037 ETH or about $165 USD following the news of the Wahl and Blaylock takeover, according to OpenSea.
