In the 20th century, Piet Mondrian wowed the world with his "Neo-Plasticism," a style featuring simple lines and vibrant colors. Now, tomorrow, it's getting doodled!

On Thursday, Doodles will partner with the estate of famed Dutch painter Piet Mondrian on a first of its kind NFT drop featuring iconic works from the artist reimagined by Doodles creator Burnt Toast in his signature style.

“Piet Mondrian built a visual language so iconic that it’s still being remixed a century later, from streetwear to architecture and everything in between,” Burnt Toast said in an interview with OpenSea. “Being trusted by the Estate to work with that legacy and reimagine these works for the first time in history, is not something I take lightly. I'm honored to help bring Mondrian to a new age of collectors.”
Tomorrow's Mondrian x Doodles release will feature two separate drops. The first is a Collector's Blind Box mint consisting of 555 editions featuring five different reimagined works. The collectibles cost 0.08 ETH each and come with a free VeVe collectible. The drop opens for Doodles holders at 12 P.M. EST and the public at 1 P.M. EST.
“The five Mondrian works are Composition with Grid 9,” OpenSea wrote. “Checkerboard Composition with Light Colors (1919), Composition with Red, Black, Blue, and Yellow (1928), Composition with Red, Blue and Yellow (1930), Composition No. 10, with Blue, Yellow, and Red (1939–42), and Victory Boogie Woogie (1942–44).
the five works, the ‘chaser’ piece for many will be the reimagined Victory Boogie Woogie (1942–44). The painting was famously left unfinished when Mondrian died, making it one of the most interesting works in his catalog and giving Burnt Toast a bit of a blank canvas!
"The fact that it's unfinished actually makes it one of the most exciting pieces in the collection, because there's a natural openness to it that feels very much in tune with how digital culture works,” Elmon Co-Founder Jacob Elmon said. “It's a conversation with the work, not a conclusion."
After that, Mondrian x Doodles will release a physical prints collection consisting of 300 total editions of "Coated Pink" and "Focused," museum-quality prints signed by Burnt Toast with varying rarity levels. Each print costs 0.25 ETH and comes with a free VeVe collectible. The drop begins at 4 P.M. EST.
