FROM THE SWAMP TO THE STALLS: BAYC Member And Command Line Founder CryptoVonDoom Calls Bathroom Blitz On Otherside A “Massive Labor Of Love For All Apes”

The bathroom at the Bored Ape Yacht Club has been jammed since yesterday as Apes, Voyagers, and gamers galore shrink down and ape into the Otherside’s first ever standalone and always on experience,  Bathroom Blitz!

On Wednesday, BAYC member CryptoVonDoom’s Command Line gaming studio launched its team deathmatch style game Bathroom Blitz on Otherside, built using the same metaverse tools that will soon be available to everyone. And ever since the game went live, the servers have been packed.

 

“Holy shit, this was a massive labor of love for all Apes - worth every minute to see the timeline today,” CryptoVonDoom told the Gazette. “Feels good. Jobs not finished, we have so much more in the pipeline it's insane. Really stoked and relieved that it's live and it's been really, really amazing to see the timeline reaction - we're very grateful.”

From the second you spawn into the lobby to the final shot of each round, players are met with lore, Easter eggs, and references to the best club on the internet and the wild run it’s been on since April 2021.

 

 

But what’s best about the game is that while it’s skinned for BAYC members and longtime NFT enthusiasts, it’s open to everyone and it plays like any classic third person shooter. On top of that, anyone who apes in is eligible to win onchain loot packs and other prizes between now and August 13th, just for showing up and doing their best, or their shittiest, according to Command Line.

As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, Bathroom Blitz is part of the first phase of Yuga Labs’ Otherside rollout and serves as a proof of concept for the company’s vision of a user generated content filled metaverse.

“The ethos of Otherside is simple: We, Yuga, will build the best experiences we can on the platform. But as we do that, we'll also be opening up the same exact tools and assets we use to build Otherside to community creators,” Garga tweeted last night. “Our vision is to make Otherside the best place for creators to build and monetize 3D experiences in crypto. That can be games or it can be social experiences, or it can be something totally different. Just like with Bored Ape, we thought it fitting to start with the Bathroom. What you'll be playing here is an alpha from a small crack team of devs. There's a fair bit of jank in the game - this is an alpha. But think about the first games on Roblox, or the first mods on WarCraft III, and what spawned later.
