Time sure flies around the swamp!
On Wednesday, the Bored Ape Yacht Club celebrated its fourth birthday by looking back on an anything-but-boring few years and dropping an ApeFest 2025 announcement!
On this day four years ago, the BAYC launched its pre-sale mint, inviting everyone in the Web3 world and beyond to join the club, scribble on the bathroom wall, and help the founders pay their moms back, for just 0.08 ETH or $235.82 USD!
“The Bored Ape Yacht Club #NFT Pre-Sale is LIVE,” the club tweeted way back when. “All apes are 0.08 ETH, because Bonding Curves are a ponzi. Come ape in with us and then get verified in the BAYC discord.”
No one knew it then, but history was about to be made by the soon to be best club on the internet.
In the weeks and months that followed, Apes like Billboard Stu, Spottie WIFI , The Bored Ape Kids, Punks Comic, Boring Bored Ape, Jenkins The Valet, this very paper, and many more began creating brands, businesses, and characters around the IP they fully owned, a first in the NFT space at the time!
Then came the BAKC Doggos, the Mutant mint and Serum airdrop, an online treasure hunt, Sotheby’s, Garga dancing, the first ApeFest, the Adidas collab, Apes Vs. Its safe to say that things have been anything but boring!
Today, 5,489 unique wallets hold a Bored Ape, and a jaw-dropping 11,840 unique wallets own a Mutant. Plus, over 400 officially licensed Bored Businesses have popped up around the swamp!
To celebrate the club’s fourth birthday, the BAYC officially announced that ApeFest 2025 will be taking place in Las Vegas, Nevada, beginning on October 24th!
