The Mutant Ape Yacht Club’s fourth anniversary was a movie, literally!
It was lights, camera, Mutants around the swamp on Thursday after Yuga Labs invited nearly 20,000 primates to break on through to the Otherside for the very first time!
As Mutants took to the metaverse, the club’s resident filmmaker and ODK builder, CinemaD, dropped the most insane sizzle reel ever to commemorate the moment and welcome Mutant Apes to the swamp!
“Night falls, Mutants rise,” he tweeted.
The 77-second clip, set to Kavinsky’s Nightcall, is absolute cinema and delivers some of the most insane Mutant vibes the club has ever seen.
“Mutants are iconic. That song is iconic. Theres just nothing better than visceral imagery and great music,” CinemaD told the Gazette. “My goal is always to bring fun to the timeline and I just love that track and knew it would get people hyped up and pair perfectly.”
CinemaD went on to thank Yuga Labs’ Michael Figge for giving him the chance to create what he called a dream gig!
“I got handed the keys to the swamp and told GO…dream gig,” he said. “I got setup in the ODK loaded the iconic Swamp level in and went to work! Relighting it for a night look was extremely satisfying and fun! Adding all the vfx particle systems was the icing on the cake. Then I just went about creating cinematic moments worthy of the incredible MAYC IP and dope models made by Rida and his team… I love pushing the envelope on imagery through creating a cinematic mood! Tone is everything. Figge and I were both on the same page on flipping the script on the Otherside and it was just too much fun to debut Mutants with a new look!”
After CinemaD’s film went live, Figge took to the timeline to congratulate him and welcome the Mutant Apes to Otherside.
“Really like all the stuff @CinemaD__ has been doing with the Otherside ODK,” he tweeted.. “Felt he'd be the right guy to take a stab at premiering Mutants in @OthersideMeta. Loved how it turned out. Happy mutation day mutants.”
