MADE BY APES: BAYC Member NaNa The Ape’s Mutant Records Is Spinning Up Royalty Free Tracks For Creators Across The Swamp!

This former DJ turned business Ape is spinning up something special around the swamp with his Made By Apes label, Mutant Records, which offers holders access to  royalty free music every month!

NaNa The Ape began his career spinning records in nightclubs before taking his talents to the boardroom and now, to the Bored Ape Yacht Club with his company, Mutant Records, where he hopes to make Apes dance!

 

“In the summer of 2024, Mutant Records was born with a bold vision: to merge music, NFTs, and community in a way that reimagines how we experience sound and culture in the Web3 age,” NaNa told the Gazette.

 

During his time behind the decks, NaNa learned the ins and outs of the music business. Now, he’s bringing that knowledge to Web3 and teaming up with fellow Apes Rodolfo Shanana and Asun to launch their own label focused on royalty rights and the proper use of sound around the swamp.

You see, streamers and creators can’t just play any tune in the background. Without the proper licensing or approvals, their videos can be taken down or worse, their channels banned. That’s where NaNa and Mutant Records ape in.

The project gives holders access to a growing library of royalty free music, complete with a license to use those tracks across all platforms. That means creators in the Mutant Records community don’t have to worry about takedown notices from YouTube, Twitch, or elsewhere.

“Different streaming platforms use different soundpools, licensed libraries of approved music,” NaNa explained. “If you’re restreaming across platforms and play a track not approved by one of them, your stream could be muted or taken down, even if it's fine elsewhere. By using Mutant’s royalty-free music, streamers can avoid these disruptions and stream freely without fear of platform conflict.”

Today, this perk is only available to Mutant Records’ 69 pass holders, but NaNa told the Gazette that he has big dreams to expand operations, invite more friends to jam, set up an onchain record shop, and foster a community of 1,000 people to help launch artists’ careers.

“We plan to release a collection which satisfies the needs for Degens as well,” NaNa teased. “These NFTS will have a unique Royalty share feature, so that all our early supporters will be reward regularly via royalty payouts. Why 1000 people? It takes a thousand people to enable an Artist breakthrough. Our community will be focused on bringing musicians and potential audience together and scale the artists due the community hub and 1000 Royalty Fans.”

 

 

While NaNa didn’t say when the mint will take place, he did say that working around the swamp and seeing the impact that Apes and $Ape are having on culture has assured him that the space is ready to beat the beat, and he can’t wait to rock on with more and more people onchain!

“As the “Mutant movement” grows, one thing remains clear: the future of music is collectible, connected, and undeniably mutant, he said.
