Magic Eden Teased A Retroactive Diamond Reward Point Claim For ETH Enthusiasts On March 13th

Diamonds are an Ape's best friend after Magic Eden announced that it would be rewarding Ethereum-using degens retroactively for all their on-chain debauchery over the years!

With Magic Eden and Yuga Labs’ Ethereum-based and royalty-enforced marketplace set to open its digital doors next week, on February 27th, the platform announced that it plans to reward Ethereum NFT traders and enthusiasts with diamond reward points to commemorate their years of trading.

"ETH OGs get your wallets ready,” Magic Eden tweeted with a vampiresque gif of their Mascot Emmy. “Diamond Claim 03.13.”

Following the post, Magic Eden’s Head of Marketing, Nick Santomauro, tweeted that these retroactive diamond rewards will span all the way back to 2017!

As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, Diamonds are the reward points for Magic Eden’s cross chain reward program covering the Bitcoin, Solana, Polygon, and Ethereum ecosystems.

“The cross-chain rewards program built for everyone,” Magic Eden states on its website. “From collectors to creators and traders, we're building the biggest, best and most rewarding platform ever that pushes forward our mission to make digital ownership universal.”

While there is still a lot we do not know about these points, many are speculating that they will have something to do with the Non-Fungible DAO’s eventual $NFT token drop.

Magic Eden does not only plan to reward Eth users retroactively, the marketplace is also planning to reward Eth traders with Diamond rewards for buying NFTs, listing and selling NFTs, and making offers once its Eth marketplace opens.

As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, Yuga Labs Co-Founder Garga first announced that Yuga Labs was collaborating with Magic Eden on an Ethereum marketplace at ApeFest 2023, following Opensea’s decision to make all Creator Royalties optional by February 29th, 2024.

"It sucks that a lot of marketplaces have turned their backs on the creators that helped build the platforms over the past two years,” Garga said to the club. “And one of the most frustrating parts of that is the flipflopping. There’s a whole sea of marketplaces that want to support creators and then not the next. So it goes us thinking what would it be like if we could get one of these marketplaces to legally, contractually, and bindingly support creators in perpetuity. And that’s why I’m pretty stoked to have our sponsor magic Eden here."

The Bored Ape Gazette will continue to follow Magic Eden and Yuga Labs' Ethereum marketplace and will keep you posted on the platform’s reward program. Stay tuned for updates!
