MEET THE CANDIDATE: GhuruKey Is Running For Special Council

ApeCoin DAO contributor and Special Council nominee, GhuruKey, is looking to improve the DAO's operations by bringing his experience as a lawyer to $Ape office!

The election season of 2023 is in full swing at ApeCoin DAO, with 21 contributors officially running to replace Yat Siu or Alexis Ohanian on the DAO's Special Council this summer.

Among the candidates vying for a position on the ApeCoin DAO's Special Council is ApeCoin DAO contributor GhuruKey.

"I believe I will be able to make a valuable contribution in providing guidance on issues that may be faced and I believe I have sufficient business and legal experience to be able to assist with effective governance or implementation," GhuruKey wrote on his Apecoin nomination page.

To find out more about GhuruKey. and why he’s the right $Ape for the job, the Bored Ape Gazette reached out to him for an interview. Check it out below:

1.How did you get into the ApeCoin DAO?

“I am a holder of ApeCoin and so I became a member of the DAO like everyone else involved in the DAO did, by connecting a wallet with ApeCoin to the ApeCoin forum, known as Discourse and started to comment. Our motto is 'One APE equals one APE', so anyone that owns at least one ApeCoin can participate in the DAO.”

2.In a sentence or two, why should the community vote for you?

“I am an Attorney and have extensive experience as an Executor and a Trustee, with further management and Directorship experience, the functions of a Trustee of a Trust correspond closely to the functions of a Special Council member. I have a deep understanding of the legal framework, risks and duties of acting as a member of the Special Council, as more fully set out on my Discourse nomination page. “

3.What would you like to accomplish if elected?

“I would like to improve efficiency and speed in DAO operations by improving some of the legal framework, so as to also improve the speed grants can be allocated for building out the ApeCoin ecosystem. I have made suggestions on my Discourse nominations page how this can be achieved.”

4. Where do you see the DAO a year from now?

“I see the Working groups and other DAO structures fully operational so as to achieve further decentralization, as is the goal of the DAO, with a growing community involvement in the DAO and more developers and artists onboarding so as to take culture forward into the metaverse.”

5. What makes you different from the other candidates?

“This is a strange question. No person or Ape is the same as another. I will not prescribe to Loch Lomonds - Little Boxes, we all come out the same - lovely song by the way, here's a YouTube link - https://youtu.be/DweLIbueddI. I'm pretty sure this answer is totally different than any of the other candidate’s answer will be, so there is one difference for you already!”

6. Do you have anything else you’d like to add or say?

“Yes, please feel free to check out my nomination page and you'll clearly see I'm the obvious choice for your vote. Lets build out this ecosystem together and take our unique Web3 culture forward into the metaverse. Let us expand our ‘Apeverse’ to the ‘Otherside’ and beyond. What could apes eventually achieve? ‘SpaceApes?’,‘Medieval Apes?’,‘Racing Apes?’, not just a metaverse, but an Ape Multiverse? Lets go Ape and get it done!”
