MEET THE CANDIDATE: Michill Is Running For BAYC Community Council's Clubhouse and Events Liaison

Michill is deeply involved in the Web3 world and loves throwing a good party! Last year, Michill helped organize MachiFest for the Bored Ape Yacht Club members after ApeFest 2023, along with other in-real-life get-togethers for her online frens! Now, Michill is running to be on the BAYC Community Council's Clubhouse and Events Liaison with the goal of making 'Ape Events Sexy!'

This year’s BAYC Community Council elections are underway, and Apes are taking to the polls to elect a Council Co-Lead, who will act as the committee's co-leader, a Made By Apes Liaison, who will be responsible for finding ways to support and connect Made By Apes businesses, and a Clubhouse and Events Liaison, who will be responsible for setting up events between local BAYC communities and Yuga Labs!

One of the four Apes running for the Clubhouse and Events Liaison role is Michill, whose goal is to help Apes connect in real life and make ‘Ape Events Sexy.’

To find out more about Michill’s candidacy, her BAYC story, and why she’s the right Ape for this job, the Bored Ape Gazette reached out to her for an interview. Check it out below:

1. What's your Bored Ape story? What should the community know about you?

“Hi, I am Michill, and I wish to recount my journey into the Bored Ape Yacht Club and the expansive realm of web3. My introduction to the world of NFTs came through a significant figure in my life, Machibigbrother, whom I've known for almost a decade. Initially assisting him in the search for Taiwanese livestreamers, our paths crossed again in 2017 during the ICO boom. While he suggested I invest in ETH, I regrettably didn't pay much attention, dismissing virtual currencies as potential scams. Fast forward to 2021, on the brink of the BAYC mint, I hesitated. It wasn't until acquiring my first ETH at $4000 that I fully delved into the space. Undeterred by the bear market, my passion for web3 persevered. Today, as we witness a resurgence, I find myself excited about the endless possibilities that lie ahead. My involvement extends beyond being an Ape holder; I'm a core team member of BAYC TW and Azuki TW. In Taiwan, I've organized numerous offline events merging with web3, showcasing my commitment to community building. Notably, I spearheaded Taiwan's first NFT-themed gathering, a monumental event that attracted over a thousand attendees.”

2. What’s been your favorite moment of being a BAYC member?

“Reflecting on my BAYC journey, the standout moment has to be attending Apefest HK. Being recognized by fellow Apes and engaging in the vibrant Ape community left an indelible mark. Witnessing the power of community at NFT NYC further solidified my dedication to the space.”

3. What would you like to accomplish as the BAYC Council Co-Lead?

“If entrusted with the role of Clubhouse and Events Liaison, my primary goal is to leverage my extensive event coordination experience spanning over a decade. I propose the establishment of a Clubhouse/Event Lead and the inclusion of local coordinators in various countries. This dual approach aims to streamline global events, making them more enjoyable for the entire Ape community. For instance, envision planning an event in Dubai. With a benefactor in the region, the process becomes smoother, drawing on their insights and resources. This not only enhances the planning of Ape events but also contributes to the broader growth of the NFT ecosystem.”

4. What makes you the right Ape for this role?

“My candidacy is rooted in a rich history of event coordination and community building. As a core team member of BAYC TW and Azuki TW, I bring hands-on experience in organizing successful events within the Ape community. My experience includes organizing MachiFest, an exclusive event for Apes Only after the Apefest HK, bringing together over a hundred Apes from around the world. My unique blend of skills, encompassing both web2 and web3 expertise, positions me as a candidate capable of making significant contributions to the Ape community.”

5. What makes a good BAYC event?

“A good BAYC event goes beyond its physical or virtual presence; it fosters genuine connections within the community. I strongly believe in the power of physical events to attract individuals from web2 to join and pay attention to our community. To enhance event planning globally, I advocate for the inclusion of local coordinators in each country. This approach not only benefits BAYC but also contributes to the overall growth of the NFT ecosystem. I envision events that not only celebrate the uniqueness of the Ape community but also serve as gateways to introduce web2 individuals to the world of web3.”

6. Do you have anything else you’d like to add or say?

“I am excited about the opportunity to serve as the Clubhouse and Events Liaison. My commitment to making Ape events sexy is not just a slogan but a genuine aspiration. If elected, I aim to connect Ape Fam members from various countries, strengthen our community, and contribute to the overall success of the Bored Ape Yacht Club. Thank you for considering my candidacy, and together, let's build a thriving Ape community!”
