Mark Zuckerberg’s metaverse might be shutting down, but fear not! The Facebook founder has made it to Otherside as an avatar, and now everyone can mint a Mark tonight for free!
Earlier this week, news broke that Zuckerberg’s company, Meta, was closing down its metaverse division after losing $80 billion over five years and gaining little traction with users.
As many clowned Zuckerberg, and the very idea of an online world, on X, Bored Ape Yacht Club member Toom got to work, turning Zuck’s iconic Meta avatar into a playable character on Otherside.
“Just saw the viral meme posts from the news of them closing the metaverse so was trying to ride the negative virality to break out of the CT bubble a bit lmao,” Toom told the Gazette. “I didn't go too far but definitely reached a few people I've never seen before so will consider it a W.”
