NEWS LITERALLY ON $APE: Now Media’s News Verifying ‘Sovereignty’ Tech Is Coming To ApeChain!

Web3 news won’t just be written about ApeChain, it’ll be written on it soon, as Now Media gets ready to bring its Sovereignty tech to ApeChain via a new deal with the Banana Bill.

Late last night, Ape Foundation CEO Cameron Kates released the ApeCoin DAO funded Banana Bill Q1 2025 Transparency Report, revealing how 14.6 million $Ape was spent between January 1st and April 30th of this year.

 



 

Within the 25-page document, Kates and the Banana Bill team revealed that they struck a deal with Now Media, formerly known as NFT Now, to bring content literally on chain.


“Now Media is a Web3 media company dedicated to educating and empowering creators, collectors, and communities in the evolving world of tokenized media,” The Banana Bill team explained. “It simplifies complex NFT and Web3 concepts through accessible content, strategic insights, and storytelling. The platform not only hosts initiatives that spotlight key industry figures and trends on Apechain through mixed media production, but is leading a new era of on-chain media through Sovereignty, in which content is minted directly on Apechain."


Sovereignty is a piece of tech that Now Media first announced in February 2024 as coming to Base, accoridng to an article by the news outlet.


“Now Media’s Sovereignty® enables digital publishers to certify that their content is genuine and enables readers to easily verify it,”Now Media wrote at the time. “By leveraging Base’s immutable ledger to ensure proof of provenance, Sovereignty® will allow each piece of tokenized media to carry a clear and inalterable record of its creation, edits, and distribution. With Sovereignty®, digital publishers can expand content creation and consumption, revenue sources, and community retention.”

 

Simply put, Now Media’s Sovereignty brings the crypto ethos of “don’t trust, verify” to news. The tech lets readers see who wrote an article, track edits, and confirm that the information came from a reliable source.

 

“Over the past year, we’ve seen cases of misinformation spread on social media and move markets,” Co-Founder, CEO and EIC of Now Media Matt Medved said in February 2024. “As generative AI continues to develop, these attempts will only get more sophisticated. To remain credible, digital publishers need a strategy to introduce authenticated media and verify that their content is genuine.”

 

At this time, it’s unclear when Now Media’s Sovereignty tech will officially launch on ApeChain and how it will be used on $Ape.
