NO BONES ABOUT IT: Yuga Labs Made An Otherside 'Skeleton' Model That Web3 Builders Can Use To Bring Their Collections To The Metaverse
Yuga Labs will soon be pulling an Otherside 3D model 'skeleton' out of its closet, allowing builders across the Web3 ecosystem to eventually bring their collections and characters to the metaverse!
Its officially spooky season around the swamp after Yuga Labs’ Otherside General Manager, Eric Reid, revealed that the Otherside team made a 3D Skeleton model and that a non-Yuga Labs builder has already used it to make their collection Otherside compatible.
“We do have a 3D model, and we do have a skeleton and a set of instructions for what people can do on their own,” Reid said on Space on Friday. “We are going to kick that off with a third-party collection that we are literally announcing in a week or so that has used our skeleton to convert their whole collection, all uniques, into models that work on Otherside. We’ve tested them, they work great and we are going to have them come in and play around, that’s going to be a good first test.”
Reid went on to say that he and Yuga Labs plan to make this skeleton model available to builders soon, and that they will work with creators to ensure their models function on Otherside, but it will take time.
“The idea is technically anyone could do that," he said, “And we are going to share it with the community and let anybody build. The key to that is it takes a while to test… and that takes time.”
As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, Reid first announced that 3rd party collections would eventually be making their way to Otherside at ApeFest 2023.
“We’ve been listening, and we know that creators need a social and experiential platform to connect with audiences with collaborators and with friends,” Reid said to the ApeFest crowd on November 4th. “Everybody needs a better destination to discover things, to socialize and to flex across all kinds of different experiences. So after new year’s we are going to bring some more experiences to Otherside and we are going to bring them to the wider community, we’re going to enable social and we are going to enable Apes, Punks, Meebs, and the Grailed, and other people who are not part of the Yuga community to come in and build and create and share.”
The Bored Ape Gazette will continue to follow the release of the Otherside skeleton model and will let you which non-Yuga Labs collection is ready to break on through to the Otherside when more information becomes available. Stay tuned for updates!
