ON THE BALLOT: This AIP Aims To Create A New Ape Marketplace for The Yuga Labs Community

There is an Ape Improvement Proposal on the ballot this week at the ApeCoin DAO that aims to create a new NFT marketplace for the Yuga Labs community.

AIP-118 titled ApeCoin DAO Marketplace via NFT Embed, provided by Graviton and powered by Universe” is an ecosystem fund allocation proposal written by ApeCoin DAO contributor Marklar.

“With NFT Embed, ApeCoin DAO can own the marketplace of choice for ecosystem assets and other curated projects,” Marklar wrote. “NFT Embed is a free tool from Graviton, providing Shopify and Stripe functionality for NFTs. NFT Embed is free to use; Graviton will deploy an initial marketplace for ApeCoin DAO. NFT Embed is powered by Universe’s decentralized, open-source, audited 12 marketplace that supports any collection and major tokens including $APE. Building with trustless, customizable solutions mitigates counter-party risks and compounds economic benefits attributable to marketplace ownership.”

Further in their proposal, Marklar explained how NFT Embed’s proposed marketplace is different from other marketplace proposals that the DAO has previously seen.

“NFT Embed is a fully customizable widget that allows you to display and sell NFTs on any website, complete with marketplace functionality and wallet connection out of the box, Marklar wrote. “NFT Embed code is compatible with web builders that support iFrame embeds, such as Webflow, Shopify, Squarespace, and Wordpress.”

The company that would provide this marketplace to the ApeCoin DAO if this AIP is passed is Graviton.

Graviton is a “Web3 / NFT tools, services, and platforms for creators and fans to thrive together,” according to its Twitter account.

Further, the company that would power this new ApeCoin DAO’s new marketplace if this proposal was pass is Universe XYZ, “a community driven and royalty enabled NFT Marketplace Protocol,” according to its Twitter.

In total, the creation of the NFT Embed marketplace would not cost the DAO anything upfront and Graviton and Universe would charge a .3% marketplace fee on all transactions, according to AIP-118.

The window to vote on AIP-118 opens tonight at 9 P.M. EST tonight and $Ape holders will have until next Wednesday, April 5th, to cast their coins.
