ON THE BALLOT: This AIP Is Looking To Reward Runner Ups In ApeCoin DAO Elections With $Ape!
Coming off a hard-fought election season earlier this summer, there is an Ape Improvement Proposal on that ballot that aims to reward the top three runner-ups from the Steward and Special Council races with $Ape.
“AIP-293 titled “APE rewards for round 2 runner-ups in the elections,” is a process proposal written by ApeCoin DAO Contributor and Ape Assembly Spokesperson, BigBull.
“Getting to round two of the elections takes a lot of work from the candidates,” BigBull wrote. “Less well off candidates may not put their name forward as they can’t take the time off from their current work or not have earnings for this period. A one time award to the three runner up finalists in each category can make this more equitable.”
In AIP-293, BigBull asked the DAO to pay the three Special Council and the three Working Group Steward candidates who did not win their elections 2,000 $Ape each for a total of 12,000 $Ape given to runner-ups per election season.
By rewarding candidates who ran but did not win, BigBull hopes that more $Apes will participate in the DAO’s upcoming election seasons.
“It benefits the ApeCoin Ecosystem by encouraging participation in the election process with a range of candidates, as the process is very time consuming,” BigBull explained. “The award level is set that it is enough to be thankful to receive but not so much that it is worth applying for roles just for the reward.”
If passed, AIP-293 would retroactively pay the runner-ups from the Summer 2023 Steward and Special Council races (ThreadGuy, Swickie, KarmaPocket, 0xSword, Sasha, SSP1111) and would also pay the future runner-ups from this December’s election season.
The window to vote on AIP-293 is currently open and ApeCoin DAO Contributors have until Wednesday September 6th to cast their coins.
