Orange background Bored Ape Yacht Club members are in shambles this evening after learning that the club does not list orange as a Discord color role, while featuring seven different shades of aquamarine!
Mutant Monday was insane around the swamp after longtime BAYC member ProofOfAlphaDegen hysterically took to the timeline over orange being left off the club’s list of 14 Discord color roles.
“I will die on this hill mfers A sad state of affairs,” ProofOfAlphaDegen tweeted. “Hey Kyle, can you cover this story about the omission of the greatest color in the collection from the BAYC discord choices while using an orange background Ape for the channel? Absolutely diabolical.”
After Proof’s post, the Gazette @’ed Yuga Labs CEO and noted Aquamarine Backgrounder Michael Figge about the omission and whether this slight could mean something more.
“Sending the whole news team to the discord now,” the paper posted. “@mfigge any comment? As an Aqua backgrounder yourself, was this move intentional? Is orange out of the club?”
As the Gazette previously reported, the battle between Orange and Aquamarine background primates is almost as old as the club itself. But in many ways, the battle has already been decided many times over.
Back during Otherside’s Project Dragon events, Aquamarines routinely defeated their Orange frens in the metaverse’s first ever shooter game.
Further, Yuga Labs’ PP Man was forced to change his Ape’s background color from Orange to Aquamarine after losing a poker match to Aquamarine enjoyer Captain Trippy at an Otherside charity poker event in 2024.
Not to mention, Orange Backgrounder and club Co-Founder Gordon Goner has long had an affinity for Aquamarine that dates back to the earliest days around the swamp.
