After over a thousand Apes, Meebits, Voyagers, and more battled in a meeb melee on the streets of Meetropolis over the weekend, Yuga Labs’ PP Man and James told the Gazette that it’s ‘up only’ from here for Otherside as the company continues to build in public!
On Saturday, the Yugaverse traveled to the Meebits Otherside world of Meetropolis for the first-ever Project Dragon event. There, Voyagers picked sides and assblasted each other in a third-person shooter game in a fight for control of the voxel town.
While this first version had its share of issues, the community loved playing it and filled the timeline with screenshots and videos of their Apes, Meebs, and Robots.
“I think its all uphill from here, up only,” PP Man said during yesterday’s Project Dragon edition of the Bored Ape Gazette live. “The reason I say that is because I think Project Dragon was probably a couple months in development, leveraging a lot of partnerships, and the team went heads down and worked really hard on it. I think this first test was the barebones of what could actually happen. We will be taking a look at all the feedback you guys give us.”
As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, Project Dragon is a yearlong, 12-part action game series with an overarching storyline by Yuga Labs co-founders Gordon Goner and Garga. While we do not know much about the story yet, other than a bad batch of Bitfizz soda started this Meebit mayhem, we do know that the team at Yuga Labs is excited for what’s ahead and to build in public.
While do not know much about the story yet, other than a bad batch of Bitfizz soda started this Meebit mayhem, we do know that the team Yuga Labs who has working behind the game is excited for what’s ahead and to build in public.
“I’m really bullish on the team right now,” Yuga Labs’ Head Of Engineering James said during the Gazette’s Project Dragon Space. “I think we are in lock step and I hope everyone starts to feel this moving. With Garga leading the way and all of us rushing towards some focused deliverables, I’m really starting to have a lot of fun and I hope everyone else is.”
James went on to remind everyone that building in public comes with more challenges and that Yuga Labs will need everyone’s help to make Project Dragon the best game possible.
“if you want to see us build in public like everyone is asking us to build intervalley, then we have to understand that we are going to have speedbumps and things aren’t going to be as nice as we want them,” James said. “But hey, you guys can see the progress and you guys can help us by giving feedback. Which people already have. Like people who wanted to play on windows wanted the link earlier, lets work on that for the next one. People want to do XY or z, lets make sure we can help them do that. I think its just communication, back and forth, and feedback loops are super important.”
The Bored Ape Gazette is working to bring you additional coverage of last weekend’s Project Dragon event. Stay tuned for updates!
