OUT OF THIS WORLD: A Mystery Buyer Purchased An Alien Punk For 4,500 Eth OR 16 Million USD

Bitcoin is going to the moon, and CryptoPunks sales are out of this world after an anonymous buyer purchased an Alien Punk for 4,500 Eth or $16 million USD, marking the second highest on-chain Punk purchase in history!

After two attempts to make contact and purchase an extraterrestrial Punk in the last four days, Wallet# 0x70587661c804c72BBa25EcddD8d17B332C984017 finally got more than a close encounter today, purchasing CryptoPunk #3100 for 4,500 Eth or $16,000,000 USD.

CryptoPunk #3100 is a one attribute Alien Punk type with a headband. Based on these traits, CryptoPunk #3100 is the 16th most Punk CryptoPunk, according to Rairty Sniper.

At this time, we do not know who owns Wallet #0x70587, but we do know that this wallet was created four days ago presumably for this purchase, based on Etherscan data.

We also know that Wallet 0x159992b850C0EF3C2905CeF037b0B7461a1F04f4, which was also set up recently, and Wallet 0xad6eaa735D9dF3D7696fd03984379dAE02eD8862, which is tagged as a Cumberland Fund wallet by Etherscan, are both connected with Wallet #0x70587 because these two entities transferred 4,801 Eth from a Cumberland Fund Wallet to Wallet #0x70587 that eventually purchased Punk #3100, according to Etherscan data.

As we wait to find out who the mystery buyer of CryptoPunk #3100 is, some are speculating that it could be the recently Punkless Tiffany& Co Executive Vice President and the son of one of the richest men in the world, Alexandre Arnault.

“Damn this guy is 100% correct,” DanielGotHits tweeted along with a screenshot of one of his followers speculating that Arnault purchased the out of this world NFT. “Jeet your punk, troll everyone, then buy a Tiffany blue Alien for $16M and turn it into an LV monogram Bravo @alexarnault , bravo Very well played.”

Prior to today’s sale, NFT influencer gmmoney also wrote a seven-part thread on why he thought the recent Alien Punk bidder was Arnault, citing the Punk’s Tiffany blue color and Arnault’s love of marathon running.

Arnault himself even hinted that he would be getting another Punk soon after selling his longtime PFP back in February.

“Like with great art taste changes and after 2 years of identifying as a 3D I thought it was time to check for other attributes,” he wrote. “Punk forever. Going to give myself some time to find the new perfect match! And then we can have fun again and make great products.”

While Arnault has not commented on whether he was the mystery buyer, he did give a rare ‘like’ to the CryptoPunks Bot’s bot following the sale.
