PRIMATE POSSIBILITIES: Bored Apes, Mutants, Kodas, And Doggos Now Have ApeChain Shadows!

A new dawn has officially begun in the ApeChain ecosystem as the Yugaverse’s Ethereum mainnet assets receive their soulbound ApeChain twins, unlocking a whole new world of primate possibilities like rewards, mints, and more!

While Bored Apes, Mutant Apes, Kodas, and Bored Ape Kennel Club Doggos still live on Ethereum mainnet, their new “Shadow” counterparts are officially live on ApeChain, thanks to Yuga Labs’ new ‘Shadow’ tech.

“Heads up: all BAYC, MAYC, Koda and BAKC NFTs are now supported by Shadows, a soulbound digital twin that can be used to prove your ownership on ApeChain,” Yuga Labs tweeted.

These Shadows are much more than just Ethereum-native NFTs showing up on ApeChain. They give creators and developers in the $Ape ecosystem the ability to easily reward holders of Yuga Labs assets, include them in airdrops and mints, and provide other incentives, just as easily as if they had built directly on mainnet.

“As our space has grown, communities have become more fragmented,” Yuga LAbs VP of Blockchain and Shadow archetecht 0xQuit tweeted on February 27th.. “Projects that want to offer benefits to NFT communities are often launching on L2s or L3s, which can't access the L1 state. Teams are forced to come up with complex mechanisms to facilitate claims. our NFTs should be global. It should be simple for folks to reward any collection anywhere This is why we created NFT Shadows.”

As the Bored Ape Gazette pevously reported, Shadows is made possible by Layer Zero’s IzRead which lets developers access any data, across any chains, at any point in time, which was just what 0xQuit and the Yuga Labs team needed to make Shadows a reality.

“What does it mean to have your assets anywhere,” 0xQuit wrote in his thread. “Projects can reward NFT communities completely onchain, regardless of what chain they launch on. New project founders don't have to fuss about which chain they launch on - they can be on all of them. And as a user, your UX improves as well. You can easily move your asset across chains, to any chain where Shadows are supported. This enables trading, NFTFi, and any other use cases that require full ERC721 functionality.”

At the time of this article’s publication, Shadows already have real use cases on ApeChain. BAYC, MAYC, and BAKC holders can use their Shadows to stake their $Ape and earn more coins via the DAO’s new https://apechainstake.iowebsite.

Also, BAYC, MAYC, BAKC Dog, and Koda holders will be able to use their Shadows to try and possibly mint/ claim a free Mintotaurs NFT tomorrow morning at 10:20 A.M. EST via Blever.

Remember, these new Shadows either live in the same wallet as your original Ethereum NFTs (but on ApeChain), or in a separate wallet delegated via Delegate.xyz.

For more on how to delegate Shadows from a vault to a hot wallet, check out the DAO’s latest tutorial:

The Bored Ape Gazette will continue to follow all things ApeChain and let you know when more Shadow opportunities arise. Stay tuned for updates!
